The Baltimore Women’s Classic – aptly named, as this is the most classic race in my repertoire. I’m pretty sure that this is the first road race I ever did outside of cross country or track, all the way back in 2009. Plus this is an all-female race benefiting Cancerve, and I am all for that.
CHARM CITY RUN – MY DUDES. The best race management company around. Though a massive area which contains thousands of runners, Baltimore County is often ignored during packet pickup the week leading up to the race – often times the closest pickup location is about 25 miles away. However, Charm City had a pickup at their Timonium store on Saturday, catering to all the people who live close to there, and I am extremely appreciative of little details like this. Love you, Charm City Run.
I have not gotten the privilege of running this race for the past two years (2014 I was in Europe, 2015 living in Arizona) and the course has changed since 2013. Fewer hills, I think, and a non-hilly race is a rarity in Baltimore.
This guy was leading a zumba-like warm up for all the hundreds of Baltimore lady runners prior to the start, which I wanted to join in, but my mother and sister shot me down.
The start and finish were still right on the harbor. That harbor is one of the prettiest places on this coast, hands down. This is a lovely little race, for a great cause, tons of sweet spectator support, and lots of goodies and free samples at the end (including a rose for every finisher).
The run felt really good; we took it slow but picked it up a little bit steadily throughout. I MISS RACING SO MUCH. There is no feeling like running a 5K, 10K, marathon, ANYTHING! I am so horribly desperate to get back to it. My ankle MRI is tomorrow, and I should know within a few days the verdict. Good vibes my way would be much appreciated! I will post an update as soon as I hear back, but no matter what, I will be okay. I will get back there eventually! In the meantime, here are some pictures of the gorgeous harbor from our walk back to the car. 🙂
